2008 in Review

Dear family and friends,
This year has been a busy and happy one for us. We love our location in West Seattle. We are just blocks from three different parks, a beach, the Alki community center, and four coffee shops! Sammy loves to chase seagulls and Jake loves to BBQ on the beach.
We’re both going to school full-time. I’m at the University of Washington and Jake is at City University of Seattle. We’re both finding it to be more difficult with the added responsibilities of work and family. I’ve been working at a restaurant a few miles away called Salty’s, and Jake is still with Alaska Airlines.
One of the benefits of Jake’s work is the ability to fly standby. We have used the privilege hopping back and forth to Idaho to visit our families and friends. We love being able to see each other without having to drive the sometimes treacherous pass.
In February Jake and I took a couple weeks off from our hectic lives and headed to the tropics. The grandparents looked after Sammy (Thank You!) while we traveled to Thailand. It was Jake’s first time overseas – and what an adventure! We checked out the Royal City, Weekend Market, and aquarium in Bangkok; then we headed south for some beach time. The scenery was spectacular.

We also managed to get out of town for: Yankees game in New York, Four generations photo in Big Bear, San Diego with my sister Rachel, and boys’ trip to Dodger town.

It’s been amazing watching Sammy grow through the year. He turned one in May, started walking in July, eats everything in sight, and finally got his first haircut last week. He loves playing at the park and in the Tupperware drawer, building legos, pretending he can drive, drawing, and going to the zoo. He is a content little guy with no clue a new baby is going to change his world this January.
Jake and I enjoyed a seahawks game in a rare Seattle snowstorm this week. It was chilly! It's been good to spend some time alone together as well as extra time with Sammy over the holidays. We know time will be scarce in the coming months once our new addition arrives.

Merry Christmas!
Love,
-Praise, Jake, Sammy, & Baby Fordham
